Non-Aligned Newsreels – Voices from the Debris
Mila Turajlić will present her live performance Non-aligned Newsreels – Voices from the Debris in Porto, Portugal, at Teatro Municipal do Porto Rivoli on 20 and 21 February 2026, and in Lausanne, Switzerland, at Théâtre Vidy-Lausanne from 24 to 28 February 2026.
Drawing on previously unseen Yugoslav newsreel archives filmed by Stevan Labudović, official cameraman to President Tito, Turajlić retraces the emergence of the Non-Aligned Movement and its political imagination of decolonisation. Moving live through archival footage, she reflects on cinema’s role in shaping the visual language of the “Third World” project and its relevance today. A post-show conversation will take place in Lausanne on 25 February with Grégoire Mallard (Graduate Institute, Geneva).
