TARANTULA

In Tarantula, Eduardo Halfon recalls the summer of 1984, when he was twelve and travelled to a Jewish summer camp in Guatemala that turned out to be an immersive reenactment of a Nazi concentration camp. A novel of memory shards and wounds, Tarantula asks what it means to live in the shadow of history and collective violence. Eduardo Halfon is the author of fifteen prize-winning books and was a Fellow at the Columbia Institute for Ideas & Imagination in 2019-20. He will be in conversation with Thomas Dodman, Associate Professor of French and History at Columbia University.
