Mark Mazower’s article “What America forgets about the UN” was published in the Financial Times on February 14. The article analyzes the symbolism of the newly created “Board of Peace,” and how it departs from the UN emblem to project a more U.S.-centric vision of global order.
“When Donald Trump’s newly created “Board of Peace” unveiled its logo last month at Davos, the design — with a map of the globe nestling in two olive branches of peace — was obviously modelled on the UN. One difference is that the wreath is gold, not white; more significantly, the map is different too.”
