Refractory Latin

Hannah Weaver has published “Refractory Latin: Prismatic Translation in the Brendan Tradition” in the Journal of Medieval and Early Modern Studies. The article examines the phenomenon of refracted, or back-translated, Latin texts, exploring how vernacular versions were later translated back into Latin within the Brendan manuscript tradition.
