Plant Teachers
Guadalupe Nettel
Guadalupe Nettel is featured in the latest issue of Granta with Plant Teachers, a text she wrote in dialogue with photographer Musuk Nolte and translated by Rosalind Harvey. The piece explores Indigenous understandings of plants, weaving together reflections on ayahuasca, spirituality, and the sense of belonging.
“During these ceremonies the ancestral spirit contained within the plant is summoned, a teacher whose goal is to guide us towards the light from which we all come, a light some call God, others Primordial Nature, others Pachamama; a light that, whether we know it or not, we all yearn for.”
