Monde VUCA

Maxim Dondyuk

Maxim Dondyuk’s exhibition Monde VUCA opened on February 1 at the Städtische Galerie in Ostfildern. On view until April 7, the exhibition presents Dondyuk’s photographs in dialogue with those of German artist Rainer Zerback.

“Dondyuk presents Ukraine’s war-scarred land in his “White Series” — both the south and the east — concealed beneath a delicate, pure white layer of snow. The traces of destruction are aesthetically softened, yet by no means erased. On the contrary, it is precisely through this subtle veiling that they emerge with even greater emotional intensity — tangible, visible, and hauntingly beautiful. The consequences of war are omnipresent. They draw closer, penetrate our seemingly intact everyday lives, and can no longer be dismissed as something distant. Maxim is not looking at people directly, but at what remains after them: the trace of human presence, and how it reshapes the world.”
