Lee Ho-chul Unification Road Literary Award

Juan Gabriel Vásquez was awarded the 10th edition of the Lee Ho-chul Unification Road Literary Award on September 18. This South Korean prize rewards literary figures who have defended ideals of peace in their work. The author is the prize’s first Latin American recipient.

The official announcement states: “Juan Gabriel Vásquez has given a complex, literary shape to the political violence in Latin America, and particularly in Colombia.”
