James Tait Black Prize

Amit Chaudhuri

Amit Chaudhuri's Finding the Raga: An Improvisation on Indian Music has been awarded a James Tait Black Prize. Chaudhuri wrote part of this book while a Fellow at the Institute.

The James Tait Black Prizes are for the best works of fiction and biography during the last twelve months. They are the only major British book awards judged by literature scholars and students, and are awarded by University of Edinburgh’s English Literature department. Chaudhuri’s book was one of four biographies selected for the shortlist out of four hundred submitted works.

The winners were announced at the Edinburgh International Book Festival, which is taking place for the second time at the University’s Edinburgh College of Art from August 13-29.
