Berlinale 2026
Karimah Ashadu and Lamia Joreige will both have works featured at the Berlin International Film Festival as part of the Forum Expanded programme.
Karimah Ashadu will present MUSCLE, an immersive short film portraying bodybuilders in the slums of Lagos through close-up cinematography and sound, reflecting on visibility, labour, and the Black male body. The film has its international premiere in Forum Expanded and will be screened at silent green Kulturquartier on 15 and 16 February 2026.
Lamia Joreige will present Casting for a Film, Ihsan’s Diary, a video installation documenting the casting process for her forthcoming feature inspired by a 1915 manuscript by a Jerusalemite Ottoman soldier. The work explores memory, displacement, and the impossibility of access to place, and will be shown as part of the Forum Expanded Exhibition at silent green Kulturquartier from 13 to 22 February 2026.
