Faculty Advisory Board

The Faculty Advisory Board of the Institute for Ideas and Imagination is drawn from Columbia University faculty who represent a range of disciplines.

Together they provide oversight, counsel and intellectual input into the running of the Institute and its activities in accordance with its by-laws. The board is chaired by Professor Carol Gluck and its current members are:

Carol Gluck (chair), George Sansom Professor of History and Professor of East Asian Languages and Cultures

Nadia Abu El Haj, professor in the Departments of Anthropology at Barnard College and Columbia University

Tash Aw, writer and former Institute Fellow

Carol Becker, Dean of the School of the Arts and Professor of the Arts

Stuart Firestein, Professor of Biological Sciences

Pierre Force, Professor of French and Romance Philology

Kaiama L. Glover, Ann Whitney Olin Professor of French & Africana Studies, Faculty Director of the Barnard Digital Humanities Center, and former Institute Fellow

Emlyn Hughes, professor of Physics, Founding Director of the K+1 Project at the Center for Nuclear Studies, and former Institute Fellow

Katharina Pistor, Michael I. Sovern Professor of Law

Colm Tóibín, Irene and Sidney B. Silverman Professor of the Humanities
