#Premiere This Saturday, May 23rd, watch Performing, Remembering and Mishearing Music, a performance by Novelist, Singer, Composer, Essayist, and Poet, Amit Chaudhuri. This music concert incorporates blues, jazz, rock, raga, ghazal, and other elements in a way meant to subvert the assumptions of Indo-Western ‘fusion’ music. Amit Chaudhuri is a highly regarded singer in the Hindustani classical tradition, of whom Vikram Seth has said: 'Chaudhuri is a wonderful singer - without any qualification such as "considering his distinction as a writer". There is a sense of calm, a simplicity, an inwardness to his singing which deeply appeals to me.' He has also been acclaimed as a pathbreaking composer and improviser who performed, most recently, at Queen Elizabeth Hall, London. According to Wendy Doniger, ‘his novels are the most internal, psychological, delicately written, introspective of all the contemporary Indian novelists.’ The Guardian’s Aditya Chakrabortty called him 'the best living writer of the English sentence' on A Good Read, BBC Radio 4. Tune into this special concert of music and commentary by Amit Chaudhari featuring Adam Moore, Matt Hodges, Paul Williams, Hanif Khan, produced Don Boyd at 6 PM this Saturday on our IGTV, Facebook or YouTube Channel. #MumbaiOperaOnline #MumbaiOperaGoesDigital #Music #Jazz #Rock #IndianClassical #Blues #PerformingArts #ArtsandCulture #StayConnected #OnlineConcert #Concert #MusicGig
